- Cancer Awareness Programme organised on World Cancer Day
Cancer Awareness Programme was organized at Home Away from Home (HAH) on World Cancer Day i.e. 4 February 2026. All the patients and their parents attended the awareness programme. The objective of the programme was to spread awareness about cancer, eliminate common myths associated with the disease, and encourage patients and attendants to face cancer with unity, courage, and a positive attitude.
Social worker, counsellor, project manager provided detailed information on what cancer is, its causes, common symptoms, and the importance of early awareness. Participants were encouraged not to fear cancer, but to confront the disease with determination while ensuring emotional support and care for patients.
A dietician addressed the participants and explained the importance of proper nutrition and personal hygiene during cancer care. Guidance was provided on maintaining adequate nutrient levels in the body, including haemoglobin (HB), proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals, which play a vital role in strengthening the body to fight cancer.
The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which patients and attendants actively participated and raised cancer-related queries. All questions were answered enthusiastically, making the session informative and engaging.

- 77 Republic Day Celebrtion at HAH
Varsha Foundation celebrated Republic Day with great enthusiasm in the Home Away from Home (HAH) Lucknow. Dr. Nishant Verma Head of Pediatrics oncology KGMU, Dr. Vinod kumar, and our mentor Mr. Harsh Khanna ji jointly performed the flag hoisting ceremony. Dr. Nishant Verma delivered inspiring speech and blessed the children.
Awareness Program activities on childhood Cancer conducted through cultural performances, where children and attendants participated and enjoyed the celebration. Toys, gift hampers distributed to all the children. Everyone enjoyed dance, songs, and delicious food.
- Christmas Celebration at HAH
We are thrilled to share that on the beautiful and auspicious occasion of Christmas, Varsha Foundation organized a special celebration with childhood cancer awareness program in the Home Away from Home (HAH) for cancer patients, their attendants aiming to make the day as joyful and meaningful. All joyfully celebrated Christmas with Santa, creating moments filled with laughter and cheer.
To enhance the joy of the children, the foundation arranged a magical show, distribution of winter clothes, food hampers, and a delicious lunch for the patients and their families.
Through these small yet meaningful gestures of happiness, Varsha Foundation strives to bring a wave of joy into the lives of cancer patients. We sincerely pray to God that we continue to receive opportunities to spread such happiness and positivity in their lives.
- Children’s Day celebration at HAH
On the auspicious occasion of Children’s Day, a beautiful and engaging programme was organized at Home Away from Home (HAH) Lucknow running by Varsha Foundation for the children.
A variety of enjoyable activities and games—such as the loop game, robot game, musical chair, and many others—were arranged for the children. They participated with great enthusiasm and enjoyed each moment wholeheartedly.
Towards the end of the programme, gift hampers were distributed to all the children, bringing smiles and adding to their joy.
- Blood donation camp organised in association with SSSSO
We are thrilled to share that today, Varsha Foundation and SSSSO organized a blood donation camp for children braving cancer in Lucknow. We collected 40 unit blood that will be available absolutely for the children suffering from cancer. Varsha Foundation staff also donated the blood.
- Diwali celebration at HAH
I am thrilled to share that this Diwali I celebrated in Home Away from Home (HAH) Lucknow. Children are precious and priceless. These children fighting cancer could not go to their home town but we did not let them feel this lack. We celebrated Diwali with great pump. HAH beautifully decorated, did worship together, enjoyed sweets, magic show, gifts to all, Diwali party together and much more.

- Nutrition Month Awareness Programme
An awareness programme was organized by the Dietician Department at HAH as part of National Nutrition Month. During the session, all patients and their attendants were educated about the importance of nutrition and hygiene.
The participants were informed about the essential nutrients required by the body in appropriate quantities, with emphasis on the fact that both deficiency and excess of any nutrient can be harmful to health. They were also advised to maintain proper hygiene practices along with a balanced diet to prevent infections and promote healthy living.
At the end of the programme, snacks were distributed to all patients and their attendants, which everyone enjoyed wholeheartedly.

- Pooja and Hawan at HAH
On the auspicious occasion of Navaratri, a special “Pooja and Hawan” was organized at Varsha Foundation’s Home Away from Home (HAH) Lucknow.
All patients residing at HAH, along with their attendants, were given the opportunity to participate in the pooja and seek the divine blessings of Goddess Durga. The event was conducted with deep devotion, with prayers for the well-being of children braving cancer and their families so that the grace of Goddess Durga may help them overcome deadly disease cancer.
The event concluded with the distribution of prasadam to everyone present, creating an atmosphere filled with positivity, unity, and spiritual energy.
- Celebration of Jasne -e- ied- a- Miladunnabi at HAH
As you are aware that we celebrate all the festivals in our HAH. “Jasne -e- ied- a- Miladunnabi” celebrated in Home Away from Home (HAH), a home for children suffering from cancer and their families at Lucknow running by Varsha Foundation. All families participated in the celebration and did prayer. Toys, gifts 🎁, biscuits, etc. distributed to the children.

- Celebration of 79th Independence Day at HAH
Independence Day was celebrated with immense pride, joy, and patriotic fervor at Home Away from Home (HAH) run by Varsha Foundation for the children suffering from cancer and their families at Lucknow. This day was made extra special as our brave little warriors, children courageously fighting cancer, came together with their attendants, volunteers, and the foundation’s team to honor the spirit of freedom.
The programme began with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Dr. Nishant Verma, Head pediatrics oncology deptt KGMU Lucknow and cancer survivors accompanied by the soulful singing of the National Anthem by the children and all. The sight of the tricolor waving high filled everyone’s hearts with gratitude for the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and hope for a brighter, healthier future for these young souls.
The celebration was adorned with patriotic songs, poetry recitations,magical show and cultural performances prepared with great enthusiasm by the children. Dressed in the vibrant hues of saffron, white, and green, the children radiated confidence and joy, showing that the true essence of freedom lies in courage, unity, and compassion.
Special moments included heartfelt speeches by Dr. Nishant Varma and staff members and volunteers, who encouraged the children to dream big and believe in themselves. The air was filled with laughter and togetherness as special snacks and refreshments were served, making the day not only patriotic but also memorable for the taste buds.
What made the celebration truly meaningful was the message it carried that freedom is not only about our country’s independence but also about creating a world where every child can live a healthy and fulfilling life.
These small yet heartfelt arrangements brought warmth and cheer, helping patients and their attendants feel less of the absence of their homes and families. The day left everyone inspired to continue working towards the cause of curing childhood cancer and spreading hope.
- Raksha Bandhan Celebration at HAH
Raksha Bandhan Celebration at Varsha Foundation’s Home Away from Home (HAH) with great joy and enthusiasm. Patients and their attendants marked the occasion by applying tilak to each other, exchanging sweets, and tying rakhi with love and affection. The Foundation also presented each child with a special Rakhi gift, doubling their happiness.
All the beautiful Rakhies were prepared by children. The children, filled with excitement and dedication, created beautiful rakhis for each other. To conclude the celebration, snack combos were distributed to all children and attendants.
These small yet heartfelt arrangements helped patient’s and their attendants feel less of the absence of their homes and families, making the day truly memorable.
- Dietitian visit in HAH
Regular visits by dietitian in HAH. Today in Varsha Foundation, nutrition related counseling was done by dietician in which all the patients and their attendants were called in the counseling room in HAH. Health related biochemical reports of all the patients were checked and 24 hours dietary recall was taken from them, based on that diet related schedule was given and also the weight, height and MUAC of the patients was measured. Based on various cancer diagnosis, roots and tubers, green vegetables, rice, pulses, and other food products are distributed to them daily in HAH, which helps in the improvement of the patients’ health.

Childhood Cancer Survivor Day reminds us that while the cancer journey is tough, the spirit of a child is tougher. Varsha Foundation will continue to support for better treatments, survivorship programs, and support systems that ensure our warriors live healthy, happy lives beyond cancer.
- Celebration of International Yoga Day 2025
Yesterday, we celebrated International Yoga Day in HAH. Children fighting cancer and their family members participated in Yoga. Everyone did yoga due to which everyone has a healthy heart and the activities throughout the day go on well. If a person starts his/her day with yoga, then he/she will be able to do all the activities well throughout the day in a proper manner.


- World Thalassemia Day 2025
Celebration of Thalassemia Day at HAH to raise awareness about thalassemia, a genetic blood disorder that affects the production of hemoglobin in the body.
This day is dedicated to the patients, families, medical professionals, and caregivers who face this condition with strength and determination. It is also a call to action for blood donation, carrier screening, and public education.
- Awareness program on childhood cancer
We conducted an awareness program on childhood cancer yesterday in the annual function of “Roti Kapda Foundation”. Children from our Home away from Home (HAH) participated in the awareness program and did awareness activities. Former Dy chief minister and member of parliament Dr. Dinesh Sharma honored the Varsha Foundation for working on change for childhood cancer. All the children were also honored in the programme.
