Celebration of 79th Independence Day at HAH

Independence Day was celebrated with immense pride, joy, and patriotic fervor at Home Away from Home (HAH) run by Varsha Foundation for the children suffering from cancer and their families at Lucknow. This day was made extra special as our brave little warriors, children courageously fighting cancer, came together with their attendants, volunteers, and the foundation’s team to honor the spirit of freedom.

The programme began with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Dr. Nishant Verma, Head pediatrics oncology deptt KGMU Lucknow and cancer survivors accompanied by the soulful singing of the National Anthem by the children and all. The sight of the tricolor waving high filled everyone’s hearts with gratitude for the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and hope for a brighter, healthier future for these young souls.

The celebration was adorned with patriotic songs, poetry recitations, magical show and cultural performances prepared with great enthusiasm by the children. Dressed in the vibrant hues of saffron, white, and green, the children radiated confidence and joy, showing that the true essence of freedom lies in courage, unity, and compassion.

Special moments included heartfelt speeches by Dr. Nishant Varma and staff members and volunteers, who encouraged the children to dream big and believe in themselves. The air was filled with laughter and togetherness as special snacks and refreshments were served, making the day not only patriotic but also memorable for the taste buds.

What made the celebration truly meaningful was the message it carried that freedom is not only about our country’s independence but also about creating a world where every child can live a healthy and fulfilling life.

These small yet heartfelt arrangements brought warmth and cheer, helping patients and their attendants feel less of the absence of their homes and families. The day left everyone inspired to continue working towards the cause of curing childhood cancer and spreading hope.
